What is semi and fully automatic Transmission?
Transmissions are divided into two types: semi-automatic transmissions and fully automatic transmissions.
Semi-Automatic: The Dual Clutch Transmission, also known as DSG (Direct Shift Gearbox), is an automatic transmission that can change gears faster than other geared transmissions. The dual-clutch transmission offers more power and better control compared to traditional automatic and manual gear systems. Many companies have started using DSG-type transmissions, such as Mercedes, BMW, and Porsche. Although the operational principle is the same, brands have made unique modifications, resulting in different names like DCT, DKG, and SST, to accommodate subtle practical differences.

DSG-type transmissions are typically engineered for economy within specific RPM and mileage ranges, offering flawless gear shifts and downshifts for enhanced comfort and pleasure to the driver. Moreover, they facilitate significantly rapid gear changes, behaving like manual transmissions but operating as semi-automatics. They possess numerous parameters internally, including torque limiters, gear shift timings, and launch distances.
